Community Mediation and Court Programs
An Overview

  • The Commission supports the growth and development of community dispute resolution programs and services by providing consultation and technical assistance to communities and courts to design and implement programs. Through these efforts the Commission helps to build partnerships among communities, not-for-profit organizations, courts, and schools throughout Ohio.
  • The Commission works to promote knowledge and use of dispute resolution methods in Ohio courts. The Commission collaborates with the Supreme Court of Ohio, county courts, professional associations, and academic institutions to provide training for court personnel, mediation centers, private mediators, and others involved in dispute resolution programs. Through this training the Commission works to have skilled mediators available to the public for assistance in resolving a wide variety of disputes.
  • A Directory of Not-For-Profit Court and Community Programs, designed to assist Ohioans in finding dispute resolution and conflict management programs and services located in or near their communities, is available on this site.  Programs and services are listed by county and include over 70 separate entries. Services listed include mediation, conciliation, facilitation, conflict evaluation, training, and arbitration. Click here to view the Directory of Not-For-Profit Court and Community Programs.
  • Also available is a Consumer Guide to Selecting a Mediator, designed to educate consumers regarding the selection of mediators to resolve disputes in court, community and business settings.
