Ohio's Uniform Mediation Act
In 2005 Ohio enacted a new Uniform Mediation Act (UMA) that governs the practice of mediation in this state. The UMA provides mediation participants and mediators with a privilege regarding communications made during a mediation. The Act, effective October 29th, 2005, replaces ORC §2317.023.
Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators (pdf)
The Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators was prepared in 1994 and revised in 1995 by a joint committee from the AAA, the ABA and ACR. Both the original 1994 version and the 2005 revision have been approved by each participating organization.
